We would like to solicit feedback to improve your experience as a graduate student at UM, as well as ideas to help next year's INS-GSA serve you. For example, some of the things we have heard in casual conversation include:
UM-GSA
-the need for a devoted graduate student study area in Richter Library
-excessive air conditioning in classrooms, related to energy costs and/or general comfort in UM facilities
-more funding to attend conferences
-health care costs
-insufficient UPrint allocation
-opportunities to socialize with graduate students from other departments
INS GSA
-more in house development workshops
-better dissemination of relevant info from the Grad School
(TA workshops, research seminars, funding opportunities)
-more food!
-printing privileges in the department
Please take a few minutes to list your ideas. Based on the content of these responses at the department level, the Senate would like to then distribute a survey to the graduate student body as a whole. The data collected in that survey is intended to guide Senators' efforts, as well as give the UM GSA a stronger position when bringing ideas to the administration. Your responses to the second question (specific to the INS dept.) will be used by next year's INS-GSA. Responses will remain anonymous unless you request otherwise.
How to respond (by 2/5/11):
1. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/SWNNYW8 (preferred)
2. Send an email to Menaka
