Miami-Dade County Mayoral Internship Program

Good Afternoon,

I wanted to take a moment to announce a very interesting internship opportunity Dr. Bagley has shared with me.  This opportunity is the Miami-Dade County Mayoral Internship Program.

Successful applicants to the Miami-Dade County Mayoral Internship Program will have the unique opportunity to work in the Office of Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez, who is working tirelessly to fulfill his primary pledges to residents to roll back the property tax rate, preserve essential public safety services and programs for seniors and children, and make County government smaller, more affordable, and more efficient.

The Miami-Dade County Mayoral Internship Program will allow graduate students, to experience County government in transition, as the Mayor has vowed to lead a more transparent and efficient administration in order to restore the good name of public service.  Interns will work directly with the Mayor’s staff as they work through the challenges of County government.

It is important to note that Miami-Dade County is a rather large enterprise.  In fact, Miami-Dade's government is the second largest governmental agency in the State of Florida, aside from the State of Florida itself.  With a proposed Fiscal Year 2011-12 budget of $6.114 billion and over 26,000 employees, the County’s government is larger than that of many states.

For those of you interested in this internship, I have provided below a link to the Web page for the internship program, as well as the application.

NOTE: Time is of the essence!  The deadline for applications to this program is rapidly approaching.

Patrick
