Fall 2011 Qualifying Exam Review Sessions

As many of you are aware, the qualifying exams are approaching rapidly.  You will note below, the dates for the three qualifying exams being offered this semester:


IR: 11/07/2011
IPE: 11/09/2011
CP: 11/11/2011


Below you will find the Qualifying Exam Review Session schedule for Fall 2011. Professors have generously donated their "spare" time, so please make every effort to adequately prepare for and attend all the review sessions applicable to your testing area.



QUALIFYING EXAM REVIEW SESSION SCHEDULE – FALL 2011


Thursday, 10/13/2011 from 1pm -3pm: Nationalism/Democratization (Dr. Kanet)


Monday, 10/17/2011 from 3pm - 5pm: Security & Foreign Policy (Dr. Bagley)


Tuesday, 10/18/2011 from 4pm-6pm: Post-positivist/Critical IR (Dr. Reitan)


Wednesday, 10/19/2011 from 6-8PM: Drug Trafficking & Non-state Actors in IPE (Dr. Bagley)


Friday, 10/21/2011 from 5-6PM: Mainstream IR Theory (Dr. Parent)


Wednesday, 10/26/2011 from 6-8PM: International Law (Dr. Khan)


Thursday, 10/27/2011 from 6-8PM: IPE (Dr. Gomez-Mera)




Please note that review sessions for the Comparative Politics qualifying exam will be scheduled directly with Dr. Smith.  Additionally, the INS-GSA will request review sessions for special topics (EU, Public Health, Development, and etc.) if there is enough demand from students.


If you are interested in a review session for a special topic, please contact Menaka Mahajan (mmahajan@umiami.edu) by 10/10/2011 indicating which topic you are interested and the names of any and all students interested in this topic.
